Manchester City beat Bayern Munich 3-0

Manchester City put on a commanding display at the Etihad Stadium as they defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal clash.

The Citizens got off to a flying start and were rewarded with a goal in the 25th minute when Bernardo Silva pounced on a defensive error to score past Manuel Neuer. Bayern tried to respond but City's defense held strong with Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias putting in an impressive performance.

City doubled their lead just before half-time through a brilliant Riyad Mahrez free-kick that left Neuer with no chance. The German side continued to push forward in the second half, but City's midfield trio of Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, and Phil Foden controlled the game and prevented any real threat to their goal.

The hosts sealed the victory in the 70th minute when Gabriel Jesus tapped in from close range after a brilliant run and cross from Foden. Bayern tried to find a consolation goal, but City's goalkeeper Ederson made a number of crucial saves to keep his team's clean sheet intact.

The result puts Manchester City in a strong position heading into the second leg in Munich. Bayern will need to pull off a remarkable comeback to progress to the semifinals, but with their attacking prowess, they cannot be counted out.
